What this site shows us about the web
It shows that the web can be a place where controversies can be handled thoughtfully. This site is a “structured” blog, using a set format. Its material is rich in evidence and context, with references to interesting material.
What the site achieves culturally
This site unpicks media stories about the big issues of our time. It helps people judge the quality of the arguments put by campaigners, politicians, commentators. It operates as a “reality check”.
We don’t add to the torrent of news and pseudo-news on the web. We want to provide a form of web-based quality-control.
